More about Fr. Bordenave:
Fr. Ian Bordenave, O.P., grew up in Valparaiso. His family have been parishioners of Holy Name of Jesus Parish since the 1980s. His sister, Ave Maria Collins, and her husband, Jim, are current parishioners. Fr. Ian graduated from Niceville High School in 1984 and from the University of Dayton in 1988. After college, he served in the U.S. Army for four years as a Patriot Missile Officer. He made first profession as a Dominican friar in 1994 and was ordained to the priesthood in 2000. He is a member of the Dominican Province of St. Martin de Porres, which is headquartered in New Orleans and has ministry sites in the southeastern United States.
Since his ordination, Fr. Ian has served in numerous roles: parochial vicar, pastor, dean, campus minister, instructor, itinerant preacher, provincial councilor, novice master, and chaplain. He earned a doctor of Ministry (DMin) in Preaching from Aquinas Institute of Theology in Saint Louis last May and became the chaplain and director of Tulane Catholic, the Catholic campus ministry at Tulane University, last July. He is an avid runner. He also enjoys reading.
